Introduction to StockGPT
StockGPT is an artificial intelligence based financial research tool that covers quarterly financial report earnings calls and annual financial report earnings calls for S&P 500 index stocks. StockGPT provides a new tool for analyzing listed companies and the industry and offers both free and paid versions for investors to choose from.
StockGPT can answer specific questions about the company based on financial reports, such as product updates, performance, etc. It has a filtering function that can limit answers to specific dates and industries. These financial transcripts are updated in real-time, allowing investors to continuously obtain the latest financial analysis.
In addition to issues involving specific companies, StockGPT can also provide industry analysis. At present, these answers are based on listed companies in the S&P 500 index, and the coverage will continue to expand in the future.
The free version of StockGPT provides five query opportunities per day, while the paid version ($20 per month) provides unlimited queries and advanced filtering based on the company’s industry, scale, and other characteristics.
StockGPT Financial Analysis
We used the free version of StockGPT, and before using it, we need to enter an email and password to register. The homepage of StockGPT is as follows:
On the left side of the page are some specific settings, such as personal information filling, password modification, etc. You can change the color scheme of the page in the upper right corner. The middle of the page provides some Example Prompts for users to refer to. The bottom of the page provides filtering for specific companies, quarterly and annual financial transcripts, and the paid version can have more filtering conditions. At the bottom is the remaining number of daily queries. We tried two queries, so the image shows 3 remaining queries.
We first attempt to query specific stocks and select the question in Example Prompts: Summarize this quarter’s financial report for me. Select Tesla (TSLA) below and select the fourth quarter of last year for financial reporting. The results of the operation are as follows:
From the results, the text mentions specific information about Tesla’s delivery volume and operating profit margin last year, as well as specific measures in terms of operating expenses, cost management, and actions to change product sales prices and gross profit margins.
Continuing to try a relatively comprehensive question: Which companies referred to inflation in this quarter and what did they say. The results of the operation are as follows:
From the results, the CEOs of several large companies such as Microsoft and Apple mentioned the impact of inflation on the company during the meeting, while other companies did not directly mention inflation, although they discussed the actual situation of revenue and costs. StockGPT distinguishes between these two situations.
Finally, we raised a new question for the industry: What does the recession mean for utility industry. We limited the answer to the first quarter financial report of this year. The results of the operation are as follows:
From the results, the two companies mentioned in their reports that public utilities will not be severely affected by the economic recession. The first company believes that most of the costs can be transferred to consumers, and energy transition requires long-term investment. The second company believes that utilities need to provide electrification investment, resulting in strong growth.
Summary
StockGPT can query and cite specific financial report information in answering questions and can also summarize the situation and industry characteristics of multiple companies. The filtering effect is very good, and it can output information from different time periods. It is expected that in the future, StockGPT can provide more detailed output results after incorporating other stocks.
